Made to order · Trivandrum
Furniture made for your room,
not for a warehouse.
Every piece we make is drawn for one home — your dimensions, your proportions, your finish. We work in solid wood first, and we tell you exactly what goes into a piece before you commit to it.

01 — The range
What we make
Individual pieces, or a full set for a room. If you have seen something you like, bring the picture — we will design something original around what drew you to it.
Beds & headboards →
Platform beds, upholstered headboards and storage beds, sized to your room rather than to a standard cot length.
Sofas & seating →
Sofas, armchairs, benches and window seats — built to the seat depth and height that actually suit the people using them.
Dining & tables →
Dining tables, coffee tables, console and side tables. Length and width set by your room, not by what fits a shipping carton.
Storage & occasional →
Sideboards, chests, bar units, study desks, bookshelves and the odd piece that has to fit one particular corner.
02 — Materials
What it is actually made of
Most furniture sold as “wooden” in Kerala is engineered board with a wood-look surface. That is not a scandal — it has its uses — but you should know which one you are buying.
Solid wood
We prioritise solid wood for made-to-order furniture. It takes a finish better, it can be repaired and refinished years later, and it ages into something rather than simply wearing out. Species and grade are chosen for the piece and confirmed with you before we start.
IS:710 marine plywood
Some forms are better in ply than in solid wood — wide flat panels, curved work, carcass backs. Where a design specifically calls for it we use IS:710 marine grade, the boiling-waterproof spec we use in kitchens. We will tell you which parts of your piece are ply and why.
Hardware, fabric, finish
Hinges, slides, castors, upholstery fabric, foam density, polish or PU finish, edge profile, leg detail. Each is a choice, each affects the price, and each one is written into your quotation rather than left vague.
03 — Customisation
What “customised” actually means here
Not a choice of three colours. These are the things that genuinely change on a made-to-order piece.
Design
An original piece drawn for you, or your reference reworked into something that is ours rather than a copy.
Dimensions
Length, width, height, seat depth, back angle, shelf spacing — set by your room and the people using it.
Material
Solid wood species and grade, and where ply is used instead, stated part by part.
Hardware
Hinges, runners, handles, castors and fixings, specified by brand rather than described as “branded”.
Finish
Natural polish, tinted polish, matt or gloss PU, and the fabric or leather on anything upholstered.
Detail
Edge profiles, leg shapes, joinery you can see, and the small decisions that make a piece look considered.
04 — Process
How a piece gets made
Five steps. Nothing is cut until you have seen a drawing and agreed a number.
- 01
Tell us the requirement
The room, the use, the constraint. A photo of the space and a rough measurement is enough to start.
- 02
We measure and draw
Real dimensions, then a drawing — proportions, material, finish and hardware, so you see a specific object.
- 03
A written quotation
Priced against that drawing. Cost depends on the piece, dimensions, material, hardware and finish, so we quote once we understand the requirement.
- 04
We make it
Built to the approved drawing. If something has to change on the floor, you hear it from us first.
- 05
Delivery and placement
Delivered and set in place, with anything that needs assembling on site assembled on site.
05 — Honestly
Made to order, or off the shelf?
Not every piece needs to be custom. Here is when it is worth it, and when it is not.
Worth making to order
- The space is an awkward size and standard pieces leave dead gaps
- You want a material or finish that ready-made ranges do not carry
- The piece has to match joinery or a colour already in the room
- You are furnishing a whole room and want it to read as one thing
- You intend to keep it for a long time
Probably not worth it
- A standard size genuinely fits and you like what is available
- You need it this week — made to order takes time
- It is for a rental or a short stay
- You are still undecided about the room’s direction
In those cases our ready pieces may suit you better. Browse the shop →
06 — Questions
Questions people ask
How much does a custom piece cost?
It depends on the piece, its dimensions, the material, the hardware, the finish and how much customisation is involved — which is why we do not publish a single figure. Tell us what you need and we will give you a written quotation against a drawing, so you can see what each choice is costing you.
Is it solid wood or plywood?
Solid wood is our default for made-to-order furniture. Marine plywood is used only where the design specifically requires it — wide flat panels, curves, carcass backs — and we tell you which parts those are. You will not have to guess.
Can you make something from a picture I have seen?
Yes, as a starting point. We will design something original around what appealed to you about it rather than copy a named designer’s piece. That protects you as much as us, and it usually produces something that fits your room better than the original would have.
How long does it take?
It varies with the piece and how busy the workshop is. We give you a timeline in writing along with the quotation, before you commit — not a guess on the phone.
Do you deliver outside Trivandrum?
We are based in Paruthippara and work across Thiruvananthapuram and Kerala. For furniture outside Trivandrum, tell us where you are and we will confirm what is workable before you spend time on drawings.
